Press Release: DSS, Inc. Awarded VA Contract to Assist Suicide Prevention Efforts in Nashville, Tennessee

“One of the most serious challenges the Department of Veterans Administration (VA) faces in their mission of care is the challenge of veteran suicide. To help address this critical challenge the VA has awarded a contract to DSS, Inc. for its Suicide Prevention Manager (SPM) software support tool. SPM is already approved for use and this contract will make it available at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare Service, located at the Nashville VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Nashville, Tennessee.

IT workflow efficiency tools with a specific suicide prevention focus and with access to real-time data saves valuable time for VA case managers struggling with heavy caseloads. SPM saves time, improves the reliability of suicide prevention care and provides a better employee experience. In addition, providing case managers with interactive, real-time push notifications powered by clinical business intelligence will enable more proactive and methodical management of high-risk veteran suicide prevention care.

The VA chose SPM because it features data visualization, standardized workflows, and analytical utilities that work together to monitor processes, performance, and outcomes in real time. When humans and software-enabled machines collaborate, it paves the way to high reliability, efficiency and improvements in productivity and outcomes.

This SPM contract is an extension of the support DSS, Inc. has been providing the VA since 1994.
