Former VA Cybersecurity SME takes NIH IT Comms role

Sarah Moffat, a senior IT and cybersecurity communications and workforce development leader armed with over a decade of experience in both private industry and the Federal Government, has taken on a new challenge as Director of Communications within the Center for Information Technology at the National Institutes of Health.

At the Department of Veterans Affairs, Sarah established and led the Enterprise Cybersecurity Awareness/Communication and Training Program for over 400,000 employees and contractors, delivering an 1100% increase in learner engagement and a shift to a people-first focus concentrating on the human aspects of information technology and cybersecurity.

Prior roles include:

  • Director, Cybersecurity Communication, Awareness, and Stakeholder Engagement – Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Senior Adviser, Workforce Development – Department of Veterans Affairs
  • Enterprise Manager (Acting Deputy Director), Cyber Workforce Development – Department of Health and Human Services
