“President Biden just signed the American Rescue Plan Act into law. The Pandemic Response Accountability Committee will oversee implementation of the latest coronavirus relief bill while continuing to try to reduce waste, fraud and abuse in the CARES Act.
- Michael Horowitz, Chair of the Pandemic Response Accountability Committee, said the biggest challenge in providing data on how coronavirus relief money is spent has been lack of sufficient recipient reporting information collected by agencies in some instances.
- Horowitz said the PRAC commissioned a report on 16 data gaps that need to be addressed; they have been working with OMB on addressing these so better information gets collected by agencies when money is sent out.
- The newly signed bill provides the PRAC with funding they sought to create a Pandemic Analytics Center of Excellence with an analytics tool allowing IGs to leverage data to inform the public about how the money is being used and to ensure accountability.” Watch the video here.
