“This position is located in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Office of Human Capital Management (HCM).
Responsibilities:
The incumbent serves as the Director, Healthcare Leadership Talent Institute, within the VHA Chief Human Capital Management Office. As such, he/she is responsible for developing and implementing a VHA-wide comprehensive leadership development, talent management, and succession planning strategy to ensure a steady pipeline of VHA leaders. The Director, Healthcare Leadership Talent Institute will manage the talent for the largest healthcare system in the country.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provides executive leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective Succession Planning and Talent Management process to ensure a robust pool of ready candidates to fill mission critical positions across the VHA, in compliance with all applicable federal policies and regulations.
- Oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices necessary to support talent management across VHA.
- Guides collection of multi-dimensional talent assessment information on executives across VHA to identify those in the pipeline for key leadership positions and ensure they receive the work experiences, assignments, coaching/mentoring, and training necessary for building executive leadership skills.
- Works with the Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration, VA Chief Learning Officers and the VA Talent Development Council to develop policy, procedures, and practices to support leadership development across the department.
- Provides direct coaching, mentoring and career guidance to healthcare executives across VHA.”
