Press Release: Haaland Bill To Improve Native Veterans’ Health Care Benefits Awaits President’s Signature

“Congresswoman Deb Haaland’s (NM-01) bill to improve Native veterans’ health care benefits moved to the President’s desk. Haaland delivered remarks on the House Floor in support of the Veterans Affairs Tribal Advisory Committee Act, as part of the Veterans Health Care and Benefit Improvements Act of 2020 last week.”

“The bill, which she led with Congressman Mike Gallagher (WI-08), passed the House by voice vote and now awaits the President’s signature. If signed, it will direct the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish an Advisory Committee on Tribal and Indian Affairs to advise the VA on matters relating to Native American veterans.”
