EHR Intelligence: VA EHRM, MHS GENESIS Set to Deploy in October After Delays

“Following delays to both the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) program and MHS GENESIS, the Military Health System’s new EHR system, both are set to go-live in late October following the coronavirus.”

“Currently, in its third delay since November 2019, VA EHRM is scheduled to launch on October 24, at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA, according to The Spokesman-Review…”

“The staff will also implement a new appointment scheduling EHR tool that aims to streamline the process, according to Laura Kroupa, chief medical officer for the office of EHRM.”

“The appointment scheduling solution aims to simplify the scheduling process to ensure efficiency for veteran patients and VA providers at medical visits. While VA Central Ohio Healthcare System was the first to integrate the tool last month, VA plans to implement it across VA health facilities to expedite patient care throughout the health facilities…”

“Not only is VA’s implementation back on track, but MHS GENESIS, the Department of Defense (DoD) EHR project, is also set to launch at 354th Medical Group at Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska on October 31.”
