The incumbent serves as the Deputy Director, OCIO reporting directly to the NIH Chief Information Officer (CIO) and acts for the CIO in his/her absence. The Deputy Director supports the CIO by overseeing the major activities of the immediate office and the OCIO reporting offices and is responsible for the OCIO day-to-day operations of the office.”
“Responsibilities
- Advises the NIH Director on the strategic direction and management of significant NIH Information Technology (IT) resources and investments.
- Oversees the NIH IT security program and initiatives to protect and secure NIH’s information assets.
- Manages the development and oversight of IT capital planning and investment control activities, Including the NIH IT Budget.
- Establishes policies, guidelines, and standards for NIH wide IT, identifies critical IT issues and analyzes, plans, and leads NIH’s implementation of special initiatives related to management of IT resources, tools and training.
- Supports NIH level approaches for IT governance to align IT with NIH strategies and objectives.
- Ensures compliance with the Federal IT Acquisitions Reform Act (FITARA), the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA), Federal Managers Integrity Act (FMFIA), Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), and the Privacy Act as appropriate…”
