Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, CBIIT serves as the principal advisor to the CBIIT Director and NCI senior leadership on ensuring the required clinical and discovery informatics infrastructure needs are met; promoting and implementing biomedical informatics solutions, information technologies, and analytics activities; and managing major data sharing and integration initiatives.
The Associate Director has the following responsibilities:
- leads diverse, highly complex scientific programs involving bioinformatics and data science;
- oversees three highly complex informatics and data science programs that:
- support the NCI’s clinical trials and clinical trials reporting, precision medicine, imaging informatics, semantic infrastructure, and translational research;
- develop and manage the NCI Cancer Research Data Commons, providing secure access to data generated by NCI-funded programs and;
- provide advanced computational genomics data analysis, scientific consultation, and training to support intramural and extramural NCI scientific communities;
- supervises significant resources and management of scientific contracts involving clinical and translational research informatics and data science;
- serves as the primary advisor on the research and development of informatics and data science technologies and products that support critical cancer and biomedical research programs of the Institute
