VA seeking Chief Design Officer/Deputy Director of Information Systems Management

“The Deputy Director (Chief Design Officer), Information Systems Management (ISM), is responsible for the administration and direction of the ISM team. The Deputy Director serves as the first-line supervisor for management and program analysts (MPAs) who are responsible for supporting the management of information systems requirements.”

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies end-user needs for execution and transformation through research, including observation, interviews, surveys, analytics, and user testing.
  • Facilitates work sessions with product teams and users to define key design goals and requirements.
  • Defines requirements for user experience; leads teams to create and deliver high-quality digital experiences and artifacts (like user-experience patterns, wireframes, prototypes, and design systems).
  • Influences the overall strategic direction of the ISM by leading engagements and implementations on customer value.
  • Advises COD and OAWP leadership and teams on a variety of agile related topics including product management, design thinking (human centered design), lean, engineering culture, and DevOps.
  • Guides definitions of metrics, business drivers, and areas of strategic investment within the ISM portfolio.
  • Coaches and advises COD leadership to embrace the right mindset and become catalysts to digital culture change.
  • Leads development of wireframes, product backlog, user stories, and acceptance criteria for complex information system requirements.
  • Leads the implementation of digital technology solutions, complying to high quality and security standards.
