“To better understand the risk and protective factors for severe COVID-19 illness among the Veteran population, the VHA Innovation Ecosystem and precisionFDA launched the ‘COVID-19 Risk Factor Modeling Challenge’ on June 2, 2020. “Through this challenge, additional risk and protective factors for severe COVID-19 illness will be investigated These include therapeutics prescribed for preexisting comorbidities, as well as treatment interactions. The challenge results are anticipated to improve the identification of the risk and protective factors for COVID-19 and the classification of illness severity in both Veteran and civilian populations.
