EHR Intelligence: US GAO Recommends Increased Stakeholder Presence for VA EHRM

“The US Government Accountability Office (GAO) recommends additional participation from relevant facility stakeholders for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) new Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) system.”

“’GAO found that VA’s decision-making procedures were generally effective as demonstrated by adherence to applicable federal internal control standards for establishing structure, responsibility, and authority, and communicating internally and externally, but that VA did not always ensure key stakeholder involvement,’ wrote GAO…”

“According to clinicians from Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington and Puget Sound Health Care System, VA did not always communicate with stakeholders, such as clinicians and staff, at the local workshops…”
