ProSphere has been named a Department of Labor (DOL) 2019 Platinum Medallion Award winner for its exceptional commitment to hiring Veterans. The Honoring Investments in Recruiting and Employing American Military Veterans (HIRE Vets) Medallion Program is the only Veteran hiring award at the federal level and implements the requirements of Public Law 115-31, the HIRE Vets Act of 2017.
“I would personally like to extend my congratulations on your exemplary efforts to recruit, employ, and retain our nation’s Veterans,” said J.S. Shellenberger, Acting Assistant Secretary, Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, DOL, in his email announcement to ProSphere.
ProSphere met the criteria required for the award by demonstrating a model of patriotism worthy of praise as well as a recognition of the value Veterans bring to the workplace. Criteria for recognition vary by level (platinum or gold) and employer size (large, medium, and small). However, the criteria for most of the awards are based upon the following key measures such as percentage of new hires during the previous year that are Veterans; provision of an employee Veteran organization or resource group to assist new veteran employees with integration, including coaching and mentoring; employment of a dedicated human resources professional or initiatives to support hiring, training, and retention of veteran employees; and more.
“As a Retired Army Major General, I am proud to be part of an organization that demonstrates a model of patriotism,” said Michael Sumrall, Chief Operating Officer. “Programs such as HIRE Vets are paving the way for Veterans in the workforce and giving companies an opportunity to support our nation’s heroes in a substantive way.”
