The Economist seeking Business Development Manager, for US Government Healthcare, HHS, USAID

“The EIU’s Healthcare Consulting Division offers sector-focused research and advisory services for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem. Within EIU Healthcare, the Health Policy & Clinical Evidence Practice (HPCE) offers independent, specialized health policy research, clinical evidence synthesis and strategic analysis. The Practice output seeks to drive effective decisions (at a system and patient level) and impactful stakeholder engagement by interpreting and communicating the implications of underlying health trends.”  

“Currently we are seeking an experienced business development professional to join our practice to lead our growth in U.S Government (USG) accounts. Working as part of integated USG team across EIU Consulting, the BD Manager will be a key member of our award winning HPCE practice, developing research programs and strategic advisory services that promote better decision-making, innovation and organizational success in preparation of future societal health needs.”  

“The position, reporting directly to the USG new business director and working closely with the HPCE global practice head, will entail working to develop opportunities with USG agencies by promoting our capabilities, building relationships with strategic partners and USG funding agencies in healthcare and developing proposals together with the research team.” 

“Accountabilities 

  • Responsible for meeting USG healthcare sales targets assigned by USG New Business Director and HPCE Practice Head 
  • Develop and execute winning sales plans and account strategies, including account mapping, prospecting and maintaining depth and breadth of insights for USG agencies related to healthcare 
  • Help to prepare marketing materials including slide decks for presentation to prospective partners and clients 
  • Inform strategic decision-making by providing insight into EIU’s existing and prospective USG markets, customers and competitors (with a focus on healthcare) 
  • Monitor USG sources and circulate updates on new and planned procurement opportunities related to healthcare…

“The Ideal Skills For This Role Are: 

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent work experience. Masters Degree in a field such as Health, International Affairs, Public Policy, Business or Economics is desirable; health focus preferred 
  • 5+ years demonstrated business development experience in the USG health sector (HHS and USAID preferred), with track record of winning competitive deals 
  • Established relationships with current and influential government stakeholders (within HHS agencies preferred) 
  • Strong familiarity with federal acquisition regulations, procurement processes and contract vehicles…”
