CDC NCCDPHP recruits Director of Office of Informatics

The CDC National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion has recruited Timothy Carney, an established leader, to spearhead the direction, development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of health informatics and IT systems relating to the generation of public health information, data and surveillance systems at this Center that helps people and communities prevent chronic diseases and promotes health and wellness for all.

In his new role, Timothy will collaborate with high level scientific and technical staff within a variety of CIOs, Government health agencies, private health and public health advocacy organizations, and provide leadership and direction for the broad application of health informatics and information technology throughout programmatic activities.

Prior roles include:

  • Director of Health Policy Research, Data Science and Analytics – Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI), Morehouse School of Medicine
  • Senior Director of Health Informatics – Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)
