The contractor will review and assess the current Health Information and Gateway Exchange (HINGE) technologies and architecture to provide guidance how to ensure best-practices are used, help make sure the HINGE system will be scalable when handling more patients, and help insure the HINGE system meets the IT security requirements of the VA. This project will be broken up into two phases:
Phase 1
- Review and assess the current architecture of the HINGE system including:
- System login, encryption, and database security
- Current communication protocols between individual HINGE installations and centralized analysis server
- Back-end application programming interface (API) (needs to work as intended with HINGE web interface, dashboard, and future tools)
- Provide strategic consultation on best of breed technologies to leverage for current and future requirements
- Identify most applicable industry standard design patterns for use
Phase 2
- Provide estimate to improve HINGE system to include:
- System login, encryption, and database security;
- Current communication protocols between individual HINGE installations and centralized analysis server
- Back-end application programming interface (API) (needs to work as intended with HINGE web interface, dashboard, and future tools).
- Site the specific authentication method required (each Veteran Affairs (VA)) facility can only see non-anonymized data at the analysis server for patients treated at their own facility)…
