JMC will maintain subcontracts with General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), Yahara Software, and Novolab Solutions (hereafter the JMC Team) to bring an exclusive set of expertise and experience to provide the FluLIMS Support Services outlined in this Task order.”

“The influenza virus causes significant morbidity and mortality across the globe every year. The CDC Influenza Division conducts surveillance on circulating strains to recommend the components of the yearly influenza vaccine. In addition to seasonal influenza which is generally caused by antigenic drift within the viral genome, the CDC also monitors for an antigenic shift in the virus, which may spark another global influenza pandemic. The challenges associated with detection of novel viruses and vaccine strain recommendation continue to grow as our need for more rapid results and predictive analytics drive this mission. The problem that CDC faces is the need to continue to evolve the science, processes and tools to keep up with the influenza detection and vaccination needs of our increasingly global and mobile population. However, as the science has evolved, commercial information management systems have not kept pace. Effective testing for influenza is more than simple sample tracking and reporting. It involves both conventional antigenic characterization methods and the newest technologies like next generation sequencing (NGS). The JMC Team has helped conceive, design, develop and implement a system of systems, the FluLIMS Ecosystem and will continue to support this system under the new task order.”
