With a multitude of business development courses available, G2X takes notice when something stands out. The upcoming BDCAPCON is one such event. Described as a handshake between Government and Industry, this event is co-organized by former CMS Senior Acquisition Official Brian Hebbel and Reeba Magulick, Senior Founding Partner of d8Group.
Says Hebbel: “Bringing inside and outside perspectives together and speakers who have actually served in business development roles, we aim to break down some of the silos that exist between the two sides for a more comprehensive full-scale view.”
Magulick says this unique convention goes beyond the usual proposal management or capture management training to provide specific business development training focused on helping participants earn Federal wins. “This is a get deep, ‘what your best friend would tell you about business development’ event with information presented by people who have actually been in these shoes.”
Aimed at people who are new to the role of business developer, and also those with years of experience, the conference intends to present a full suite of business development and capture information because ‘people don’t know what they don’t know’. “There are a lot of young people entering business development roles who will have a very short time to meet their sales goals to show they can perform. For those who have been in the role for a while, we know that no two of us have had the same experience; so for them it provides the opportunity to gain insights from someone else, the chance to fill in gaps.”
With the four session, 16 course structure, the expectation is that many companies will send multiple representatives for the opportunity to divide and conquer and walk away with all of the training material. There is the added bonus of the evening networking opportunity and the chance to connect with the trainers/speakers, with colleagues and with potential future partners.
Another unique feature is the exhibitor space which will specifically target B2B business support functions such as proposal writing, staffing, funding companies and more.
Training topics include inside views on how proposals are really evaluated and “best value”, how to get meetings with the right Government official; Agile procurement, price to win; to bid or not bid; how to help shape requirements; and demystifying orals, to name a few.
In addition, BDCAPCON will be announcing next week that Judith Zawatsky, Assistant Commissioner, GSA Office of Systems Management will be the keynote lunch speaker, pending Agency approval.
