VA seeking Senior Advisor within the Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction

“This position enhances the ability of the Principal Executive Director (PED), OALC to rapidly respond to and focus on vital strategic VA issues, and possess superior technical and managerial ability and competence and apply extensive knowledge of program management practices.”

“Responsibilities

  • The incumbent in this position serves as the Senior Advisor within the Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction. The incumbent is recognized as a technical/functional authority on program management issues, and may participate on teams to carry out complex projects or programs, or integrate efforts of several groups or teams.
  • Resolves conflicts and creates a climate where empowerment and creativity thrive.
  • Ensures organizational mission and program success, fosters the development of other team members by providing guidance or sharing expertise.
  • Senior Advisor will make recommendations on OALC programs and projects.
  • Serves as a key member of the Principal Executive Director’s team, consulting in the functional areas under the incumbent’s responsibility and serving as a high-level VA resource on program management related matters.
  • Advise the PED on gaps and challenges related to existing or new training required.
  • Evaluates effectiveness and economy of major programs and projects under OALC.
  • Confers with the PED regarding problem areas or projected major changes in the organization’s mission, recommends policy, organization, and operational procedures regarding management of the activity.
  • Identifies and monitors actual or potential problem areas and recommends a specific course of action that will resolve the problem.
  • Continuously monitors and evaluates effectiveness of programs and operations to meet strategic objectives and goals.
  • Concentrates special attention upon problems and issues which inhibit the attainment of organizational objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with Administrations and Staff Offices for purposes of resolving conflicts and assuring optimum control and coordination of programs and operations of high priority or special emphasis.
  • Assists in developing the long-range objectives for the organization in terms of assigned and projected missions.”
