VA to award sole source contract for CONNECT: Enhancing Veteran Safety Though Technology Application

VA intends to issue a sole source firm fixed priced contract to HEALTH IT SOLUTIONS LLC of Charleston, SC.

The scope of the award is to Develop and support the CONNECT APP; to include the input derived from SME. The CONNECT APP will need to be fully operational by June 1, 2019.  Real-time support of the CONNECT APP shall be for at least one year.

“The CONNECT app, which currently is in development phase, will be a user-friendly, readily available electronic smart phone application that can be used to monitor responses from patients from a computer/laptop and that allows interaction through a cellular connection, between a participant and a crisis response health care provider. Participants using the CONNECT app receive a daily series of evidence-based assessment questions and emotional regulation therapeutic material displayed in the application. Patients respond to questions and other therapeutic dialogues through branching logic and response choices. If mental or physical health status indicates deterioration (i.e., patient engaged in increased suicidal thoughts), the provider may call the patient for further assessment and intervention (i.e. counseling as needed). A care coordinator (usually a nurse or social worker or other health provider) is the point of contact for a patient using the CONNECT app. Training is provided on how to use CONNECT and this training will take place at the VA, the Veterans home, or local clinic…”
