HIT Infrastructure: DoD Implements Phase 2 of Medical Treatment Facilities Transfer

“The second phase of the Department of Defense’s transfer of its medical treatment facilities (MTFs) from individual military departments to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) is scheduled to be completed in October of this year.”

“As a result of the transfer, DHA will be responsible for all MTFs with respect to budget, information technology, healthcare administration and management, administrative policy and procedures, and military medical construction…”

“Following the completion of phase 2 in October, 50 percent of the military hospitals and clinics in the continental United States, including Maxwell Air Force Base, will be under DHA administration and control…”
