The VA has awarded a sole source contract to Cerner Corporation to provide the Office of Technology (OIT) Laboratory System Reengineering Program (LSRP) Helix software maintenance. The VA Office of Information Technology (OIT) Laboratory System Reengineering Program (LSRP) acquired a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to provide effective and efficient medical care to its beneficiaries as well as fulfill the mission critical role of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service to facilitate the provision of timely, cost effective and highest quality anatomic and clinical pathology services. The LSRP LIMS is a Commercial- Off-The-Shelf product, brand name Cerner Millennium PathNet software, that is interfaced with Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture. The LSRP site was the first implementation of the Cerner Millennium PathNet LIMS and was completed in Huntington, West Virginia VA Medical Center in July 2011.
LSRP has a requirement to ensure that the necessary software support and maintenance of the Cerner Millennium PathNet is maintained until such time as new Electronic Health Record Management system is implemented at Huntington VA Medical Center. This includes software upgrades and patches that are necessary for the LSRP site to remain current. Support shall be available on a 24X7X52 basis including both scheduled maintenance and emergency support. Maintenance support for emergency support and scheduled maintenance shall be made available via the Cerner help desk.
The period of performance shall be for one year with three 12-month options periods for continued maintenance support.
