FedHealthIT 2018 Innovation Awards – Time Update

As many of you know, we in the DC area have two wonderful things to celebrate on Tuesday; our FedHealthIT Innovation Award Winners and the Washington Capitals’ Stanley Cup Win!

In the spirit of supporting both of these two great celebrations, we are pushing back the start time of the FedHealthIT event to the late afternoon 1) to ensure that attendees will miss any traffic for the planned morning Capitals’ parade, and 2) so those who want to attend the Capitals’ celebration, can do both! – Hey, this doesn’t happen very often!

The FedHealthIT awards event will now kick-off at 3:00 pm, with the registration period opening at 2:15 pm.

Traffic and Parking Concerns

The parade does start on the West end of the Mall at 11 am, but it will move quickly and the central activity will take place more than a mile away (southeast of from the National Press Club (NPC)) from where the Innovation Awards event is being held. Any lingering crowds are expected to be long gone from the NPC area by lunchtime. But, just in case and to ensure smooth sailing for all, we opted to move the main session event back by 90 minutes.

Coming by Car?

Expect some street closures in the immediate vicinity of the mall to persist until mid-afternoon. You will simply want to avoid that area if traveling by car and come in on the north side of NPC.

Parking

Parking in the immediate vicinity of NPC, especially on the north side of the facility, should not be a problem at all. Our friends at the Press Club who have been through much bigger events assure us that this is a small challenge, with DC built for handling much larger happenings. Regardless, it is worth planning a little extra time into your travel schedule.

Coming by Metro

Both the McPherson Square and the Metro Center stops are great options and a short walk from the Press Club. This is a great option as few will be coming into the city mid-afternoon, with the last of the parade-attendees departing.

Going to the parade early and need a place to go after it is over?

Come Early! FedHealthIT has made arrangements to have the National Press Club Ballroom available for all of our event attendees starting at 1 pm. Come to NPC, cool off in the air-conditioned room, use the facilities, network with others and catch up on emails prior to the event.

Included below are the revised event details for your review, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow!
