Politico: Tech May be the Last of VA’s EHR Concerns

“The technology involved in building out an EHR linking the VA to the Pentagon is less of a challenge than certain organizational issues, John Windom, the VA’s Director of the Electronic Health Records Modernization, said at HIMSS Thursday.”

“Windom said the VA is in “active negotiation” with Cerner about the project and that the Department has “moved forward under the Secretary’s vision…”

“Windom said educating patients about their own medical information — including when they can opt to share, or opt out of sharing — was a top priority, as well as getting “real feedback from veterans as to what their interoperability challenges” are…” Read the full newsletter here.
