MarketWatch: Salesforce to buy Mulesoft, valuing company at $6.5 billion

“Salesforce.com Inc. CRM, +0.11% announced an agreement to acquire Mulesoft Inc. MULE, +27.16% on Tuesday afternoon, confirming a report that sent Mulesoft shares soaring during the regular trading session. Salesforce said it agreed to pay $36 in cash and fractional Salesforce shares for each share of Mulesoft, which would add up to a price of $44.89 a share. Mulesoft, which specializes in application programming interfaces, or APIs, went public at $17 a share a year ago and closed Monday at $33.03, about 36% lower than the price Salesforce agreed to pay.
