Cognosante’s Civilian Health IT business unit includes the HHS, Medicare & Medicaid Practice which delivers product and service solutions to customers in the areas of health IT solutions; health data standards; intelligent health information, and business process operation delivery. Civilian Health IT business unit helps customers implement new technologies and respond to regulatory mandates in HIT, focusing on improving processes while controlling cost, rather than a minimalist approach to compliance.
The HHS, Medicare & Medicaid VP oversees the management teams responsible for day-to-day operations of service delivery. Serves as the initial escalation point on project scope, resource, timeline, and operational issues. Collaborates across practices, both inside and outside of Civilian Health IT business unit. Communicates regularly with the client to ensure Cognosante is exceeding expectations. Attracts, maintains, and motivates staff. Develops and executes a practice-specific strategy that aligns to the overall Civilian Health IT business unit strategy. Develops strong client and internal relationships to drive business development and operating efficiencies. Supports the development and leads execution of operating plans, acquiring/aligning resources for delivery of both strategic and operational initiatives, and budget management.

- Direct client communication and interface, which includes proactive communication, handling complaints, goal setting, reports, audit responses, account issues, and IT issues
- Responsible for the growth of the division by identifying work process improvements and recognizing potential new business from existing or potential clients
- Responsible for success rates for all clients including establishing certification goals, cancel/return standards, cycle times, and client revenue goals
- Responsible for leading people including the motivation, team building, collaboration, and engagement of direct and indirect reports
