Upcoming Events to End the Fiscal Year

With as busy as this year has been it’s hard to believe we have reached the end of the fiscal year already. With that in mind, included below is a list of events that you might want to consider attending before we move into FY17.

WHERE: American College of Surgeons (ACS), 20 F Street NW #1000, Washington, DC

G2X TAKE: Having just launched a Data-Standard Integration Initiative to Advance Healthcare Interoperability, next Monday’s event that includes VA Deputy CMIO, Jonathan Nebeker; CMS Medical Director supporting PQRS, Daniel Green; and ONC’s Principal Deputy National Coordinator, Vindell Washington, amongst others should be well attended. Other notable speakers from government include ONC Clinical Quality Leader, Julia Skapik, and FDA’s Terrie Reed.

2016 Defense Health Information Technology Symposium

WHEN: Tuesday, August 2, 2016 through Thursday, August 4, 2016

WHERE: Caribe Royale Convention Center in Orlando, Florida

G2X TAKE: Organized and run by the Defense Health Agency/MHS, this event has become one of the few must attend events for anyone covering Military Health. The support and attendance by Military Health leadership combined with the opportunity to connect with partner organizations from across industry in an informal setting makes this well worth the price of admission and time spent.

WHERE: The Pub, 9101 International Drtive #1003 Orlando, FL

G2X TAKE: Only two weeks away, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is planning its second annual IT Conference. This event was very well attended last year and with SPARC now awarded, you can expect a lot of interest. Sponsorship opportunities are available and they sold out last year. Don’t delay if this is a focus for you.

Standards and Prevention of Health IT Risks

HHS Industry Day – Opportunity at FDA, CDC, CMS and HHS

WHEN: Thursday, September 8, 2016, 7:30AM – 12:00PM

WHERE: Sheraton Tysons Corner, 8661 Leesburg Pike, Tysons, VA

G2X TAKE:  This September event is worth evaluating now as one to get on the calendar. The price is a bit steep when compared to other events, but the topic is spot on. If anyone has been to this event in the past, please provide feedback so that others can benefit.

HIMSS NCA Emergency Strikes – Is your Health System Ready?

WHEN: Thursday, September 15, 2016, 5:30-8:00PM

WHERE: Key Bridge Marriott, 1401 Lee Highway, Arlington, Virginia 22209

G2X TAKE: Irrespective of the lineup, the National Capital Area chapter for HIMSS regularly draws in top Federal Health IT leaders from across industry and government. The networking alone makes this worth the trip, though this group does a great job ensuring the topic areas are both  timely and built around key programs and initiatives.

WHERE: Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner, 1700 Tysons Boulevard, McLean, VA
